I attended Governor Christie’s Budget Address yesterday at the State House. Given the budget constraints Trenton faces, I felt it necessary to hear first-hand what the Governor has planned for us. Below is a document that speaks to Municipal Aid state wide and the difference between FY 2010 & FY 2011. Governor Christie is proposing a 445.9 million dollar cut to municipal aid state wide. For Trenton, there is a complete elimination of ‘Trenton Capital City Aid’ which would be a reduction of $34.9 million in aid. This of course does not include cuts in CMPTRA AND UEZ funding. In all Trenton could be looking at cuts well over $45 million dollars. This doesn’t include any deficit that the City may already have as it enters FY 2011 which begins July 1, 2010. I will keep you updated as I receive more information. There are pictures from the address as well, below the document.
